Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 May 2026
This is the privacy policy for Slap’n’Pop Music — a sole trader business run by Adam Porter, based at 32 Flockton Avenue, Sheffield S13 9QQ. If you have any questions about how I handle your data, email me at adam@slapnpopmusic.com.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal information I collect when you use my website or my services, why I collect it, how I store it, and what your rights are under UK GDPR.
Information I collect
I collect personal information in the following ways:
When you contact me
If you fill in the contact form, send me a WhatsApp message, email me, or call, I’ll have your name, contact details, and whatever you’ve told me about why you’re getting in touch. I keep this so I can reply and follow up.
When you book a lesson or service
If you become a student or customer, I’ll need additional details to deliver the service — for lessons, this includes your address (if I’m visiting you) or your level and goals. For transcriptions, the song you want transcribed. For session work, the project details.
When you make a payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. I never see or store your full card details — Stripe handles that under their own privacy policy. I’ll see the transaction record (amount, date, payer name) but not the card number.
When you visit the website
The website uses cookies and similar technologies to function, measure traffic, and embed third-party content. The full list and your consent options are covered in my Cookie Policy.
Why I collect this information
I only collect personal data for one of these reasons:
- To reply to your enquiry
- To deliver a service you’ve asked for (lessons, transcriptions, session work)
- To take payment for that service
- To keep records I’m legally required to keep (e.g. tax records)
- To improve how the website works (anonymous analytics)
I don’t sell your data. I don’t share it with third parties for marketing. I don’t add you to mailing lists without your explicit consent.
How long I keep your information
For active students and customers, I keep your details for as long as you’re using my services, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back.
For tax-related records (invoices, payment confirmations), I’m legally required to keep these for at least six years under UK tax law.
For website enquiries that don’t lead to a booking, I’ll usually delete or anonymise the conversation within 12 months.
Third parties who may see your data
The following services may process your data when you use my website or services:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Google Analytics — anonymous website traffic stats
- YouTube — embedded video player
- SoundCloud — embedded audio player
- Trustindex — Google reviews display
- WhatsApp — if you message me via the WhatsApp link
- WP Engine — website hosting
Each of these has its own privacy policy. I’ve chosen them because they’re reputable services with proper data protection practices.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask me what data I hold about you
- Ask me to correct anything that’s wrong
- Ask me to delete your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Object to me processing your data
- Withdraw consent at any time, where I’m relying on consent
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data
To exercise any of these rights, email me at adam@slapnpopmusic.com. I’ll respond within 30 days.
