Terms

Last updated: 3 May 2026

These are the terms that apply when you book lessons, transcriptions, or session work with Slap’n’Pop Music. Slap’n’Pop Music is a sole trader business run by Adam Porter, based at 32 Flockton Avenue, Sheffield S13 9QQ.

By booking a service, you agree to these terms. If anything’s unclear or you’d like to discuss specifics, get in touch before booking — email adam@slapnpopmusic.com or call 07842 076869.

1. Music lessons

Booking and payment

The first lesson is paid as a one-off — £15 for 30 minutes, £20 for 45 minutes, or £25 for 60 minutes. After that, lessons are booked in monthly blocks, paid in advance.

Payment is by bank transfer or in person. Lessons are confirmed once payment has been received.

Cancellation by you

If you need to cancel a lesson, please give me at least 24 hours’ notice. I’ll reschedule it for another slot at no charge.

If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, the lesson is forfeit — I’ll already have set aside the time and may not be able to fill the slot. The exception is genuine emergencies (sudden illness, family situations) — let me know and I’ll be reasonable about it.

Cancellation by me

If I have to cancel a lesson — illness, equipment failure, anything else — I’ll give you as much notice as possible and reschedule for the next available slot. If a reschedule isn’t possible, you’ll get a refund for that lesson.

Online lessons

Online lessons run via video call. You’ll need a stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and your instrument. If technical issues on my end disrupt the lesson significantly, I’ll reschedule or refund. Technical issues on your end (your internet, your device) don’t qualify for a refund.

In-person lessons

In-person lessons take place at my Sheffield studio (32 Flockton Avenue, S13 9QQ) unless we’ve agreed otherwise. Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the first lesson; subsequent lessons can be unaccompanied with the parent’s written consent.

2. Bass transcriptions

What you get

A bespoke transcription of the song you’ve requested, delivered as a PDF containing both standard notation and tab. Turnaround is normally three working days from payment received and song confirmed.

Pricing and payment

Bass transcriptions are £20 per song, paid up front via Stripe at the time of order. Longer or particularly complex pieces may be quoted differently — if so, I’ll let you know before starting work.

Delays

If I can’t deliver within three working days for any reason, I’ll let you know and give you a revised timeline. If the delay is significant and you’d rather cancel, you’ll get a full refund.

Accuracy

Transcriptions are produced by ear and reflect my best interpretation of the recording. Where multiple basslines exist (live versions, alternate takes), I’ll work from the most well-known studio recording unless you specify otherwise. If you spot something genuinely wrong, let me know within 14 days of delivery and I’ll revise it at no charge.

Ownership and use

Once payment is complete, you own the transcription file and can use it for personal practice, performance, teaching, or sharing with bandmates. You can’t resell it as your own work or distribute it commercially.

I keep the right to mention the work in my portfolio — for example, “transcribed [song] for a customer last week” on social media — but I won’t share the transcription file itself or use it commercially elsewhere.

Refunds

Once a transcription has been delivered, refunds aren’t normally given — the work has been done. If there’s a genuine issue with accuracy or quality, get in touch and we’ll sort it.

3. Session bass work

What you get

Recorded bass parts on your project, delivered as audio stems in your preferred format (WAV at agreed sample rate and bit depth, by default 24-bit/48kHz). Includes one round of revisions within reason.

Pricing

£45 per hour or £120 for a 3-hour block, paid up front. Per-song pricing is available for clearly defined briefs — quoted on request.

Brief and revisions

Before starting, you’ll provide me with reference tracks, a tempo map, the chord chart or song structure, and any specific direction (tone, feel, complexity). One revision is included; further revisions are charged at the hourly rate.

Delivery time

Standard delivery is within five working days of brief confirmation. Rush jobs available by arrangement.

Ownership and use

Once payment is complete, you own full commercial rights to the recorded bass parts — you can release them, license them, sync them to film, do whatever you want with them.

I keep the right to use short clips or snippets for my own portfolio and showreel purposes, including on social media and on this website. If you’d rather I didn’t (for example, if the project is under NDA), let me know in advance.

4. Payments

Payments are processed in pounds sterling. Online payments go through Stripe, which handles all card data — I never see or store your card details.

Bank transfer details are available on request for lesson block payments.

I don’t keep cash on premises.

5. Liability

I’ll do my best to deliver the service to a high standard. To the extent permitted by law, my liability for any single transaction is limited to the amount you paid for that service.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that can’t be excluded under English law.

6. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled by the English courts.

7. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top will change when I do. For active students and customers, I’ll let you know directly if anything material changes.
